The International Peace Institute published on 30 October 2019 a study titled “Lessons for ‘Partnershiip Peacekeeping’ from the African Union Mission in Somalia” by Paul D. Williams, George Washington University.

Deployed to Mogadishu in 2007, the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) operates through a complicated and extensive system of partnerships. AMISOM remains the longest-standing peace enforcement operation built on such international partnerships. AMISOM’s experience offers lessons for how partnership peacekeeping can work better.
